A Level Physical Education is a dynamic course that combines both academic assessment and physical performance. Physical Education students develop the theoretical knowledge and understanding of changes within the body prior to exercise, during exercise, and during recovery. They also gain a practical insight into the amazing world of sports performance, have the opportunity to coach a sport, and study the impact that engagement in physical activity has on everyday life.
Critical thinking, implementing research methods and other key academic skills are acquired throughout a range of topics such as the use of enhancing drugs, modern technology’s influences on sport, and diet and exercise’s significance on a society as a whole. This develops students into confident, resilient and healthy individuals.
This A Level option complements a range of other A Level subjects including biology, physics, psychology, sociology and more. The transferable skills developed through the study of Physical Education, such as decision making and creative thinking, are useful in any career path.
