You will study an array of practical and theoretical modules. These modules include Development of Practical Skills, Foundations in Chemistry, Period Table and Energy, Core Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry Transition Elements, and Organic Chemistry and Analysis.
You will develop skills in processing data as well as wider mathematical and numeracy skills. In addition, you will learn how to handle hazardous materials and scientific equipment safely.
There will be an increased push towards exams as the preferred form of assessment. This course may involve a mix of assignments and examinations.
Progression routes
Chemistry is as an essential requirement for progression on to many science-based degree courses, including veterinary science, medicine, pharmacy, forensics and chemical engineering. A level Chemistry is also a desirable qualification for employers, particularly in science and technology sectors.
