Course Overview

A level Core Maths is a one-year course that allows you to retain, expand and develop your knowledge and skills from GCSE, as well as giving you the opportunity to study and apply new Level 3 material.

    Grade 9-4 in GCSE Maths. Please see our Entry Requirements for more guidance.
  • Benefits/Skills
    Studying Core Maths at A level will enable you to develop the mathematical, quantitative and statistical skills to be better prepared for work, life and further study. Studying this qualification develops logical and reasoning skills that are widely respected.
  • Units/Modules
    The Core Maths study programme is made up of four key skill areas. Linear Programming; Statistics; and Probability. These key skills are applied in contexts that include scenarios encompassing a wide variety of careers.
  • Careers/Progression
    Core Maths is a subject that is useful to support a degree that requires proficiency with mathematical methods. The logic and reasoning skills developed by studying A level Maths ensure the qualification is widely respected.
